Not to sound like your freshman history professor - but since that's what i kind of am - everyone should read "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass". It's an easy, quick read that does a great job of describing the centuries of American slavery.

Tomorrow, basketball season starts. Roll Tizzy!

i need to know your thoughts:  darjeeling limited?  if you haven't seen it already, i'd be greatly disappointed.

i will read it. i have never read it--i wonder if my students would like it, or if it's above their heads. either way, adding it to my list.

darjeeling limited: yes, yes, yes.

i started off the movie as amused and appreciative of the wes anderson-ness that i so greatly enjoy...but then you're right, after the river scene i really really loved it.

i have to say that it's battling for my favorite.

i can see the luke wilson/jason schwartzman dilemma...i think he fit for me more because his character reminded me a bit of his one in shopgirl, but different. so, he felt familiar to me, but not quite like i was seeing the same character. and i have a crush on him. that might help it.

i am planning on seeing it a few more times in the old theater we have, the one that serves drinks. i hope to catch an afternoon show, with less people behind me commenting on how it compared to bottle rocket and why bill murray was in the beginning.

why did i like the indian girl with the thick glasses? and anjelica huston - great.
